As a member of SEAOK you can enjoy the fellowship of your colleagues in the
profession of Structural Engineering. Our organization on the whole offers
these opportunities:
- Provides a forum for issues specifically related to Structural Engineering
design, business practices, and legal issues.
- Provides educational opportunities for professional development hours at
monthly meetings and annual conferences.
- Works to improve the quality of Structural Engineering in the state through
improved building codes, engineering registration and political action.
- Provides a public resource for procurement of Structural Engineering services.
- Educates the public on the role, special qualities and significance of structural
engineering.
As a member of SEAOK you are also entitled to theses privileges:
- Voting for representatives in the structural engineering profession who can
represent you on Structural Engineering issues both in-state and nationally.
Voting on other important issues needing organization-wide approval.
- PDH records for technical sessions offered by SEAOK.
- Reduced registration fees for our two-day annual conferences.
- Receiving Structure Magazine, produced jointly by the National Council of Structural
Engineering Associations (NCSEA), the Council of American Structural Engineers
(CASE) and the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI).
- Timely notification of events, seminars and issues that are of interest to
Structural Engineers.
SEAOK offers the following grades of membership, for those of good character
and reputation depending on your licensure, education status and degree of
involvement (please refer to our By-Laws page for specific information on the
grades below)
- MEMBER: Individuals who are licensed Structural or Civil/Mechanical engineers
($85.00 per year).
- ASSOCIATE: Individuals who have been regularly engaged for at least 4 years
in structural or related engineering and who have received their baccalaureate
degree
1) within the last eight or more years ($85.00 per year), or
2) within the last 7 years ($50.00 per year).
- AFFILIATE: Individuals who are in a position to cooperate with Structural Engineers
($85.00 per year).
- STUDENT: Individuals who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students in related
engineering schools or in accredited engineering or architectural schools ($10.00
per year).
- RETIRED: Individuals who are retired from practice ($10.00 per year).
- SUSTAINING: A firm, company, or corporation, or a division thereof and other
similar organization that is interested in advancing the knowledge of SEAOK
(shall be classed as a sustaining member, but have no voting rights, $225.00
per year).
- Honorary and life membership grades exist and are awarded at the judgment of
the SEAOK Board of Directors.
The membership year runs from May 1 to April 30. It is meant to coincide with
our Annual Conference. Those individuals submitting their membership renewal
before or along with conference registration are entitled to the member rates
at the Conference.
