The occurrence of disasters are generally attributed to failure of structures to perform their intended functions under conditions of environmental and societal stresses that exceed norms. The purpose of SEAOK is to ensure the public safety regarding the performance of structures and to prevent undue loss due to structural failure. Persons and property are placed at risk due to natural hazard events and in the performance of routine day-to-day operations involving commerce, industry, and community functions.
To reduce the vulnerability of society to these occurrences, SEAOK plans to present a series of reports expected to modify the practice of structural engineering to effectively and efficiently reduce risk through improved structural design practice.
SEAOK products will be produced under four titles: Technical Reports, Professional Reports, Guidelines, and White Papers. Each product will satisfy a specific purpose intended to improved the practice of structural engineering in the State of Kentucky.
